According to the findings of a Spanish study recently published in the International Journal of Obesity when you are on a diet when you eat can be almost as important as what you eat. The 420 individuals participating in this study followed a Mediterranean style diet, consumed similar amount of food and burned a similar amount of calories according to their food journals which were kept over a 20 week period.

The results seem to indicate that while the time of day that these individuals ate breakfast or dinner didn’t seem to make any difference but the time that they ate lunch appears to.  Those individuals who ate lunch earlier in the day, before 3 p.m., tended to lose more weight than those who ate lunch after 3 p.m.  Individuals who ate lunch earlier in the day lost an average of just over 11% of their starting weight while those who ate later in the day lost about 9% of their starting weight.

These results are not black and white because there could be other influential factors involved but it does seem to suggest that consuming more calories earlier in the day when one is still active gives them a chance to be worked off.

It seems that while most men want those impressive guns they are going about getting them the wrong way. They are focusing on their biceps and all but ignoring their triceps.

If you weigh 185 pounds you should aim for consuming 278 grams of protein.

Lean meats such as chicken and fish are a great source of protein. Fish has the added benefit of being rich in heart healthy Omega 3s. Eggs whites are a fantastic source of protein. Skip the yolks though. They are full of fat and cholesterol. While these are excellent sources of protein most men find it nearly impossible to consume significant amount of protein through food alone. That’s where other protein sources come in, in the form of supplements and shakes.
